Joining me on Friday 18th October will be Shelley Parker performing an exclusive live set.
Shelley Parker is an artist based in London. Her practice explores the experiential potential of sound and image through the manipulation of technology and the study of structure and material. Live audio feeds, bass frequencies and found sounds are recurring themes within her performance and installation work. In 2003 she joined the Haywire DJ roster alongside Andrew Weatherall and Radioactive Man. Her distinctive bass driven DJ sets, encompassing elements of old school hardcore, techno and electro led to regular sets at Fabric, The End and also Tate Britain. In 2008 she began to perform experimental live sets and has since performed at the Barbican, Resonance FM and Frieze with artists including Mick Harris, Chris & Cosey and Mark Fell. She has recently performed a number of site specific sets including a piece for the Cerith Wynn Evans’ programme at the De la Warr Pavilion in June 2012 incorporating a live audio feed from Beachy Head and for her residency at Space Studios a performance employing sounds of the static hiss of pylons and electricity hum recorded at Dungeness Power Station (July 2012).
